Description

The Arcoal Grate is the perfect add-on for your ArcPit, designed to boost airflow, improve cooking performance, and handle serious heat.

Built from 5 mm food-grade stainless steel, it fits snugly in the base of your ArcPit for a stable, secure setup. The laser-cut holes are engineered to maximise airflow, helping your charcoal burn hotter and cleaner for better flame-grilled results.

A 15 mm return lip adds strength and prevents buckling under high temperatures, so it stays solid no matter how hard you cook. Use it with charcoal, briquettes, or wood — or simply as a raised base for a small campfire when you’re not cooking.

Our handy tips to cooking with charcoal

Cooking with charcol requires some knowledge and basic set up, its super easy to achieve outstanding results, let us show you how!

What is the purpose of the Arcoal grate?

The Arcoal grate is designed to provide a flat surface to ignite and hold your heat beads and charcoal lumps when cooking with charcoal. The holes in the Arcoal grate provide consistent airflow to the charcoal ensuring it stays alight while cooking. The Arcoal grate also lifts your heat source (charcoal or wood) closer to your cooking equipment, such as rotisserie or BBQ plates meaning you need less fuel to cook with.

How heavy is the Arcoal grate?

The Arcoal grate is made from 5mm food grade stainless steel, due to its robust construction and thickness the weight of the Arcoal grate is 3.7kgs.

What charcoal is best for a roast?

Hardwood Lump Charcoal – Our favourite.
Made from natural Aussie hardwoods like ironbark or gidgee, lump charcoal burns hotter and gives off that authentic smoky flavour. It’s perfect for roasts because you can maintain steady heat for hours without heavy smoke or chemical smells.

Charcoal Briquettes – Best for slow cooking.
If you want a slower, more even burn (great for longer roasts like pork or lamb), briquettes are a solid pick. They hold heat well and reduce the need for constant topping up — just make sure you choose natural, low-ash briquettes without added chemicals.

ARCFIRE EVERY NIGHT!

Travelling on the road full time means you need to make the most of all the space you have in the van. We ditched our flat-pack fire pit and upgraded to the ArcPit, we cannot believe how much more space we now have in the van, we enjoy an ArcPit fire almost every night!

DINNER WITH A VIEW!

Watching the ArcPit rotisserie spin with the Flinders Rangers as a backdrop, was the highlight of my trip. Having the ability to cook conveniently in the most remote locations of Australia has changed the way we camp.

MUST HAVE ACCESSORY!

Space saving is important when it comes to storing camping accessories on my Sprinter van, that’s why I was one of ArcMate’s first customers and have since purchased all their accessories. The ArcPit takes up no space on my spare tyre, it’s a must have accessory when travelling.

Loved by thousands of Aussie & New Zealand Campers!
