Prepare your Stainless Steel BBQ Plate for Campfire Cooking
Cooking over a fire just hits different — the sound of the crackle, the smell of woodsmoke, and a feed cooked under the stars. But to get that perfect, non-stick cook-up, your stainless steel ArcPlate needs a quick bit of prep.
Watch our full video below for a step-by-step demo, or follow these simple tips 👇
1. Preheat your BBQ plates
Let your BBQ plate heat up over the flames before cooking. When it’s hot enough, the surface will shimmer slightly — this helps create a natural non-stick layer that makes cooking (and cleaning) easier.
ArcMate Tip: Do the water test on your ArcPlate — if the droplets dance, you’re ready to cook. (Full demo in our YouTube video!)
2. Use a high smoke point oil
Skip the olive oil. For fire cooking, you’ll want something that can handle the heat — avocado oil or macadamia oil's are perfect. They stop sticking, protect your stainless steel, and make your food taste better.
3. Steam clean while warm
After cooking, add a small amount of water to your plate to steam clean it while it’s still warm. No harsh scrubbing required, just a shiny, non-stick surface ready for next time.
